SYS 478: Fall 2026

career module

Career Module 1: Career Quiz, Values, and Coaching Access

This first career module helps you take stock of where you are now, what you value, and what next step or resource could help you move forward.

Due Tue, 09/01 at 3:00 PM

Before Class

Use the PathwayU access instructions to log in and complete the PathwayU assessments:

  • Interests
  • Values
  • Personality
  • Workplace Preferences

If you’ve done these assessments already in a past course, please review your prior assessment and/or take the assessment again. If you have trouble accessing PathwayU, email career@unca.edu or contact the Career Center.

During Class (we will do this together)

1. Where Are You Now?

Choose the description that best fits where you are right now:

  • Fully undecided: I have not decided what I would like to do after graduation.
  • Decided, but not yet taking action: I have an idea of what I want to do, but I have not yet taken concrete steps toward it.
  • Decided and taking action: I know what I want to pursue and have taken at least one concrete step toward it.

Write briefly about what you know, what you are unsure about, and what kind of support would be useful this semester.

2. Values Reflection

Complete the values activity. Identify values that feel important to your next step after graduation.

Consider which values have stayed the same, which may have changed, and how those values could shape the kind of work, study, service, or community you want next.

3. PathwayU Reflection

Review your PathwayU results. Notice what feels accurate, surprising, useful, or questionable.

Use the blue Explore Careers button in PathwayU to review career areas you may want to explore further.

What To Submit

Submit a short reflection, about 300-500 words, by the due date shown above. It should include:

  1. Where you are right now in thinking about life after graduation.
  2. Two or three values that feel important to your next step.
  3. One PathwayU result that seemed useful, surprising, or questionable.
  4. One concrete resource or action step you could use this semester.
